You are right. You don't have to press F-8 quickly. I just do that to avoid
the chatter of hearing word, sentence, and so-on. Now to accomplish your
objective of sequentially selecting sentences, you are right. The next press of
F-8 will select the entire paragraph.
You could, however, do this -- if it suits your purpose:
1.  Select your sentence in the manner described previously (3 taps of F-8);
2.  Copy to the clipboard using control plus C;
3. Repeat the above for the next sentence; and
4.  Press Windows plus C.
The depression of control plus c and the pressing of windows plus C will each
turn off the selection. You can sequentially "add" sentences to the clipboard
by using Windows plus C instead of Control Plus C. In that way, you can
accumulate sentences to copy.
In the alternative, if you want to cut sentences to the clipboard, substitute
Control Plus X and Windows Plus X for the "C" as suggested above. Hope this
helps.

Very interesting, thanks for the tip. You don't actually have to
press F8 quickly as it seems to toggle between selecting word,
sentence, or paragraph you are in. This is certainly better than what
I have been doing, although it doesn't seem possible using the F8
method to then add the next sentence to your highlighted block of one
sentence, from what I have tried the selected area would jump from
your one sentence to the entire paragraph if you pressed F8 again.
