scrips, help, and winmx

I will try to compose this message, so it makes sense, and isn't too long
winded.
Is it necessary, to use scrips with winmx? I must say, up until today, I
wasn't using them, and was able to search just fine. All of a sudden today,
I can't read word by word, using the jaws key and number six. Now all I hear
is blank, blank.
I don't know how to install scrips, jfw is new to me.
I will appriciate any help I get.
