The run function is not on the start menu and pressing windows and the
letter R does not work. A few people on this list suggested hitting windows
key in conjunction with the letter R and it worked.

I missed the earlier messages in this thread, but what would be difficult
about just pressing the left Windows key (or control escape) that puts up
the Start menu, then arrowing up a couple of times to Run and hitting Enter?
Or putting up the start menu and just pressing R?
Sorry if these ordinary methods were dismissed earlier in the thread as being impractical for some reason.

That command may not be enabled on her computer. If that's the case, then it's not a JFW problem and she should probably speak to her technician about it. It is possible; library computers, for instance, have that command disabled.
