Chhris: there is a web page which gives all the options as to which program does what in XP. I don't remember which email list that the address was given sometime. In the process of changing computer I don't have the address at present time. If anyone has that address please send it out to this list. For anyone that has any knowledge of computers I might be of help.

Hi there Sanjay,
please be careful when dealing with the startup in MS config, stopping some of these will not help, you should read carefully each item and then research each item before stopping them, I've known people have to reformat after stopping certain items in here.
make sure that the program your trying to stop doesn't have an option in the program itself for it not to come up on startup?
that's a preferred way of doing it other than doing it in MS config, windows XP isn't like windows 98 SE..

hope this helps

Hi,
When I do disk clean up I notice that not all files in the cookies and temp folders are deleted even after checking the boxes in front of them. I wonder
why???
So now I want to know which are the folders which can be manually and should be emptied on regular basis to keep the machine clean and to get the optimize
performance.
Also On the msconfig start up page I have about 20 programs listed. I really cannot make out which to uncheck. Can I select all and uncheck and then select
one by one and see what I really need. Or there have to be some programs for computer to start up.
I am using windows XP professional.
