I'd also be careful about thinking I simply had to delete every single
cookie in my cookie folder. They aren't so space-consuming as all that, and
they're not all evil, either. For instance, I'd be pretty inconvenienced if
I couldn't simply go to the New York Times Online without having to log in
every time; that's because I registered and the registration created a
cookie that logs me on automatically. Same with amazon.com so that it knows
who I am and tracks my browsing (which I don't mind at all, but rather
appreciate from my side) and knows who I am when it's time for me to make a
purchase or change some of my personal information in my account. In that
instance, I still have to enter a password for security purposes, but
everything else is already in order. So don't worry about a few cookies.
They're about 1k each, and your hard drive probably has gigabytes of space,
doesn't it? Even if it's an older, smaller hard drive, a few cookie files
are nothing, really. Don't be overzealous about cleaning up everything. I
think it's an overrated practice. Just deleting some cookies and my
temporary files has never afforded me the slightest improvement in
performance, even on computers earlier than the Pentium 4 system with a
large hard drive that I'm now using.

Hi there Sanjay,
please be careful when dealing with the startup in MS config, stopping some
of these will not help, you should read carefully each item and then
research each item before stopping them, I've known people have to reformat
after stopping certain items in here.
make sure that the program your trying to stop doesn't have an option in
the program itself for it not to come up on startup?
that's a preferred way of doing it other than doing it in MS config,
windows XP isn't like windows 98 SE..

hope this helps
