alison i suggest you get on the linux e mail list.

their are 2, one for raw beginners and more advance users.

here its best if new to get on both.

secondly i b m sold one for linux and eloquence is really a subset of the
i b m one.
i b m via voice for linux.

so yes basicly speeking eloquence is available, only problem i b m stopped
saling it but think it can be found on the net.

now about screen readers, realize most blind users using linux are using
only the dos portion of it and a free screen reader exist for that.

recently x windows which is the gui side of linux came up with a free
screen reader for
linux boxes.

so this new gui screen reader for
x windows is free and should work with gui apts in linux, now the problem
with it.

many of the applications are not designed to communicate with the screen
reader.

due to the fact that when it was written their was no screen reader and
reason for doing so.

so access to gui apts in linux is still not as good as windows and most
that swear by linux that are blind are using the text portion similar to dos.
