I agree with John. However, as a blind person who wants to have control over what you get on the printed paper I warmheartedly recommend the use of latex. It is an editing language, originally used in Unix and Linux environments, but you can run it on a windows computer as well, either with a software called cygwin or in the windows version of latex that is called miktex. It is quite a hard learning process at the beginning but it is worth it if you really want to write beautifully without having to have the document checked by sighted persons. You can usually produce more professional layouts with it than experienced sighted Word-users can. HOwever, it is probably easier to use latex when you have both braille and speech. This said, I sometimes have to use Word as well since you work with others who want to use it, but I would never publish a Word document withouth proof reading by sighted.

Remember that you usually here from concerned users.
JAWS has thousands of satisfied users that you don't here from.

Seems like every time FS fixes one problem they break something else. Why can't they just leave well enough alone? What are they going to break in
JAWS 12? That's why I'm still using JAWS 9. I refuse to pay for an SMA
only to wind up with a program that's full of bugs.

Subject: latest build of JAWS 11

Hi List,

I installed the latest build of JAWS 11 when it came out recently, but
I noticed a problem with Microsoft Office Word 2007.

When in a Word document, whenever I used the Backspace key to delete
character by character, JAWS would read the first character being deleted, then say Space when deleting the second character, then it would read the
third character being deleted, but say Space when deleting the fourth
character, and the pattern continued.

I decided to uninstall that latest build, namely J11.0.1461-32bit and I
re-installed the previous build, namely J11.0.1447-32bit and everything
works fine again.

I am using Windows XP, Home edition.

   Any thoughts on this?

   Don
