On my toshiba laptop, there was a small connector for it. Some connect to
the keyboard port but many laptops today do not have keyboard ports so you
have to use a usb numpad.

Hmmm, interesting perspective. Your comments made me remember that I have
an old lap top computer containing DOS, and it has an external key pad.
That computer hasn't worked for some time now, and I completely forgot about
it. That external key pad would work on a new computer, right? By the way,
can you refresh my memory? How does the external key pad connect to a lap
top?

Thanks for your thoughts/help.

You'd have to consult the web or your nearest outlet for computers but
before you lay out money for a laptop with a keypad or an external keypad,
you might just want to consider connecting a regular keyboard to your
laptop. Even before doing that, you might want to try a laptop for a bit
with jaws setup to use the numlock instead of the insert key to see how much
simpler it is than you thought it would be. How do I know? I used and
still have an old dos laptop with a numpad connected to it. I got a new
laptop a couple of years ago and at the same time, was using one for work
that did not have numpads. I first thought I'd never get used to it but
after a day or so, I found it worked quite well. Since then, I've used
several laptops without numpads built in or other wise and they all work
fine.

No, it isn't necessary, but I am accustom to using the numb pad and would
prefer to not learn the alternative. Where can the external key pad be
acquired?

Thanks,
Katrina

there are a number of them, but it is not necessary to have a numpad to work
with jaws on a laptop and you can also get an external usb numpad.

Greetings. A friend asked me if there is a laptop that has a numpad and
works with JAWS. Thanks in advance for any advice. Jerry
