This can be pretty normal. Takes about 20 seconds or so for JAWS to come up speaking after my windows sound, and then another 10 or so before I get the desktop. 3.5 GHz dual, 4 G RAM. It's related to the number of items you have pre-loading into memory during the boot process, and after Windows starts up. There are others on this list who may have some ideas for clearing out some of those pre-loaded drivers.
