Sorry my last thought didn't help--I have yet another but again, a rather 
simplistic one:
Do you still have jaws 5.1 on your machine? I usually keep at least one or two 
prior versions just in case there are some initial bugs in the latest version. 
In this way it is easy going back to an earlier version to see if the problem 
persists or if it is non-existent with the earlier version. This idea may not 
help much with your current problem but may be useful for future consideration.

We always keep up to date on spy ware, there is none, no pop ups happening
or undiscovered windows, just jfw getting sluggish, where 5.1 did not do
this at all.
