jaws and column title

hi
when i tap alt +1 on the num row to read the column title in Table, jaws not
only reads the column title but jumps to the top column where the column title
is. how can i stop this weird behaviour and ensure the cursor remains in its
current position.
as in alt +7 on the num row, jaws reads the row title fine and the cursor
doesn't jump to the row title position either but remains at its current
position.
any thoughts?
