It's very easy, after you hit the control r to reply to the message, shift 
tab until you get to the to field and then use the backspace key and that 
will take care of the problem and then all you have to do after you change 
the to line, just tab over until you get to the edit box.
This can be done for the subject line as well as the cc and bcc fields as 
well.
