hot keys jaws 8

Can someone explain to me how you make a hot key for Jaws? meaning, can you
create a key to use which can get Jaws itself to do a function? can you say,
get jaws to highlight or say something it can not mormally speak by creating
a hot key for it? I can't think of another use for hot key with jaws, but I
did see you all have mentioned jaws does this?
