I don't see how FS can simply stick their collective heads in the sand
about the 5.0 video problems.
On exactly the same machine I get dramatically better reading
performance from 4.51. For example, the buttons in the MS Word XP spell
checker are not labeled in 5.0. They are in 4.5
The file list in the WordPad file dialog box won't read at all with 5.0.
The file listing in the Word XP dialog skips and jumps around in 5.0.
It reads perfectly in 4.51.
The only thing 5.0 does better than 4.51 does is to read bookmarks in MS
Word XP.
There have been numerous messages on this list about the broken video
in 5.0. One person even went through some completely complex and
convoluted (hats off to him) process for installing 4.51's video with
5.0.
That's way beyond me.
I have sent FS numerous email messages about this problem. I received
one automated reply from technical support thanking me for my inquiry.
Manners are appreciated, but a real solution is what I was looking for.
Meanwhile, I happily use 4.51 most of the time.

Hi Ed,

interested in your comment that there are lots of video errors in jaws 5
compared to 4..

Have you raised this with F S.

I've had to keep 4.5 just because jaws 5 will not read access 97 as well
as it does. When I raised that one, I was told that there was no more
development work going to be done with access 97.

I had bought smas so would have had to upgrade anyway, but, there is a
warning to people.

If you've got a choice, don't just upgrade without looking at what you
are getting.

Tom
