thanks. I've always wondered about how to get to those, and when I typed in
flags in the JAWS help index, in addition to going to the JAWS help to do
with outlook I didn't see anything. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough or
something.

They are but there is already a keystroke to get you there. Just press alt P for the options button. The options will come up and the first combo box is for importance. And there is a low, normal, and high. Debbie

Yes is something altogether different. There is the follow up flag, then there is an importance flag. That importance flag in Microsoft outlook I believe can only be set to high or low. OE has an importance flag but not a follow up flag. Debbie

hmmm... isn't there an option to set your flags for high importance? because sometimes when I get messages from people JAWS says the message from the person, and then importance high sometimes. is this something different all together?

Patricia, it is on a toolbar. This is what I would do.
I might be adding a few extra steps here, but this should work.
Now you only have to do this once then your keystroke should work.
Open a new message and make sure you are in the body of the mesage.
Go to the tools menu, enter on customize.
Control tab to the command tab and press alt K for the keyboard button.
(or
tab to it).
Now in the categories listbox, press the letter A until you get to all
commands.
Now tab and press e m quickly.
This should get you to the start of the email toolbar commands.
Arrow down to email flag.
Tab to the press new shortcut key.
Press something like alt control F or something you don't think is used
in
outlook.
Enter on the assign button, enter on the close button, enter on the close
button.
Now your keystroke should bring up the flag dialog with the combo box to
pick a flag.
Don't let it confuse you, Jaws reads some information before it announces
the combo box.
You might just want to press alt F to go directly to the combo box then
just
arrow up and down to hear the flag options.

Do you use Microsoft word when composing messages or not?
If you aren't sure, go to tools, options, mail format tab and see if you
have the checkbox checked to use word.
(If you don't then the follow up flag option is on the actions menu in a
new
message. Then you can choose the type of flag from the combo box.

you have to go into current view and make sure you have the flag column
set
to show up in the listview.
