I've now tried it but JAWS says "no links". I think this is because it's a
linked object rather than a hyperlink to the spreadsheet. I could add a
hyperlink but ideally would want the straight linked embedded object to work.
The embedded spreadsheet has around 25 rows of data but when you arrow down
through the document firstly you come to the title |(straight text in Word)
then the next single arrow down takes you to the foot of the object (as it is
seen as a single object). It's from this position that I want to select the
object and click on it. The PC cursor sits outside the object. I tried JAWS
cursor at this point Numpad + but this didn't work either.

Carol,
Try bringing up a list of links in MS Word with JAWS Key+F7, just as you
would in a browser, and press Enter on the link. That worked for me when I
put a link in Word to a spreadsheet on my computer.
