db extract not working

running xp pro and latest jaws 5 db extract isn't working properly. is this
cumpatible with xp? also: my inbox says i have messages when i look at it in
the folder view. there is nothing in the inbox however. this is very strange
and i can't figure out whare these messages are and how to get to and get rid
of them. help please?
