A serial port is a com port but a com port is not necessarily a serial =
=3D port.=3D20 This is not true in windows.  Com ports are always
serial.  So if you have com1 it is going to be a serial port. =20 Hth=20

Strictly speaking yes com ports are always serial in that information
will travel one bit at a time, but some com ports can be infrared
receivers, usb adapters for mobile phones, Etx. Usually the com ports
which do not correspond to a standard 9-pin serial port on the back of
your machine are the higher numbered ones such as com 3 and com 4.
