There's an easier way:
Alt V (view pull-down menu).
Down arrow to Explorer bar sub menu.
Press right arrow or Enter to open it.
Down arrow to History. It will be checked.
Press Enter to un-check it.
That's it. You don't need to do the JAWS cursor if you don't want to.
