Windows messanger with JFW Version 8

Can someone tell me how to make Windows Messanger not sign off while I am using
it? This has happened several times and I lose items that people are sending
me since it is causing them to be cancelled. I have gone through all the
menus, an application key, etc. but cannot find any way to resolve this.
Is this maybe just not a very accessible application?
