Windows Live messenger?

Hello,
I was wondering if any of you use Windows Live messenger 8, and might know how
to stop it from continually saying the persons name who has sent you a messege,
without having to actually go to that particular window itself to stop it?
I have the window maximised and I also checked the verbosity settings to see if
there might be something that could be changed but, I myself, didn't see
anything that would apply.
I am using Jaws 8 and I didn't have these troubles with 7. I do certainly
thank any of you who might be able to help me with this irritating ordeal.
