The pro does autoprotection thing like an antivirus, while the free one is only for scanning and removing. This thing seems to be pretty thural and honestly worth the pro lisence fee. For 29.95 US you get a year of updates and a 2 computer personal lisence, however for 10 more you get a lifetime subscription. The UI is pretty nice tooo, it's a tab interface, so for most stuff arrowing and tabbing around is all you need to do. hth
