all may not be lost.

1> run jaws in demo mode.
2> insert the floppy and access the drive. If you have files on it, chances
are it is not hurt. if it says the disk is unformatted than you've toasted
it and you'll need to pay for a new one, but if not, read on:

3> disable norton. In fact, in some cases, I have heard that you need to
uninstall it completely which is what I did and which is why I don't use
norton.

4> press enter on the hjauth.exe file. ... wait for the dialog to appear...
5> arrow down through the list of actionable options till you get to the
authorization count and tab to execute and press the space bar but change
the c: to a:

6> ***important*** wait for the check to finish***

7> tab to the edit window and read the results to find out the authorization
keys left on the disk. There should be at least one if you removed yours
from the hard drive to the floppy before running it on the pc on which you
want to install an authorization.

8. if there is a key on the floppy, tab back to the list of actionable
options ant highlight install authorization. make sure that the drive is
set to c: and hit the space bar on execute. Now, Wait till your heart stops
or you get a new dialog and the disk stops spinning, which ever comes first
and you should be fine. Read the dialog to see that the key has
successfully been installed.

The key word in all of this folks, is "wait" Floppy drives are slow on
these fast pcs and as long as the floppy is spinning, it is a good sign. I
have also heard of people not having to disable norton in order to install
authorization and I also know that it can be configured to ignore the
process.

Good luck and I hope this helps someone in the future.

Subject: What is the likelyhood of me getting a new Key Disk from F.S.?

Hello JFW list serve--
I have kind of an important question to the group... I had my wife remove a
key from my PC and put it on hers because I was going to use hers while mine
was getting reformatted.

Well, guess what happens? My wife sticks the Key Disk in her PC after she
installs JFW from the CD-ROM and the head of drive A just keeps rubbing, and
rubbing, and rubbing until I ask her what is going on? Well, she says, "I
don't know?" After this goes on for about two (02) minutes, I ask her, "Did
you stop the Norton Anti Virus before you inserted the disk?" She states in
an scared tone of voice, "no.", and I hear her just **pull** out the Key
Disk **while** the head of the disk drive was **rubbing** against the Key
Disk. I scream , "No!" when I hear her pull it out and she gets scared, and
gets up from the chair in an angry sort of way, and just slaps the Key Disk
on the table and walks away...

With all this in mind, and also knowing that F.S. just recently gave me a
Key Disk because I already ran out of these keys. Would they **give me
another one**? Honestly, please pray...

Thanks,

Beto Escobar III, LMSW
