hi Peter,Yeah, a bit faster. It is reliable when using JAWS, but there are some things which JAWS does not read, such as User Account Control, Windows Logon screen and so forth (I have to use Window-Eyes for this).
Cheers, Joseph

Oh great, doesn't sound so bad after all
then.
How does Vista perform with JAWS? Do programs
load faster? Is JAWS more or
less reliable in it's performance? Peter ----- Original Message -----From: "Joseph Lee"

Panel/Personalization/Theme and make sure to changeHi Kimberly,Go to Start/Control
the Theme to Windows Classic. Then from
Personalization, go to Window
Color and Appearance and change the color
setting to Windows Classic.
This should remedy your problem.Basically I've started recording the
podcast.
Cheers, Joseph

I have user account control disabled, and itstill wouldn't let me changethe time, because it wouldn't read the listboxes, or what ever they arecalled, spin boxes I think, where you changethe time. That other programread it though. Big grin! We're notmentioning any names here. I'm surethis will be fixed soon. Thanks and let usknow when your podcast is ready.I'm anxiously awaiting it! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joseph Lee"<joseph.lee22590@xxxxxxxxxxxxTo: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, March 13, 2007 6:39 PM Subject: Re: Vista
Hi Kimberly and list, I also use Vista with JAWS 8.0.1163. Thereason why JAWS will not readfields on certain applications is that bydefault Vista uses what's calledUAC (User Account Control). This is used toblock access to key systemareas from users, such as changingdate/time, installing hardware orsoftware, and other similar operations thatrequire administrator rights. You can easily disable UAC (which is whatI've done).I'm currently working on a podcast for BlindCool Tech on using WindowsVista for the first time. In this podcast,I'll talk about new featuresin Windows Vista and tips and tricks thatyou should know. For about 90%of the podcast, I'll use JAWS, but for somesegments I'll use Window-Eyes.(I'd guess that this is not a good topic todiscuss here, so if anyone hasany comments, please write to me off list) Cheers, Joseph

Hi Shawn. I am using it. I got a newlaptop, which had Vista, and didn'thave a choice. I am using JAWS beta and theWindow Eyes beta also. JAWSstill definitely has its problems. I neededto change the time on it, andwhen I went to date/time in control panel,JAWS wouldn't read the fields tochange it. I had to switch to the WindowEyes beta, which did just fine. You also have to disable what is called UserAccount Control before JAWSwill work. There are instructions on how todo this in the JFW website. Itwork fairly well on most things I've tried itwith so far, but there aredefinite glitches. Another example is a siteI go to to pay bills wouldn'tread all the list boxes in edit mode, so Ihad to go do it on my computerwith XP.
My advice is to get Vista to play with, andkeep XP to work with, and thenmove to Vista gradually as they work out thebugs. hth
Anybody else who is using Vista, please speakup on here as well. Doesanybody know if there is a list dedicated toVista only for JAWS users? Thanks and have a nice day!----- OriginalMessage -----From: "Shawn Keen" <dkeen@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, March 13, 2007 1:17 PM Subject: Vista
Well, Is anyone using it yet? Hows it work?
I didn't want to make the plunge till lateron but it's starting to looklike I am going to. Sooner than I thought.

Any feedback would be helpfull.
Thanks Shawn
