Well, true. But, my point still reamins that I would still recommend 1.3.3 b/c
it's far easier to use, and I still think far more accessible, though
apparently, that's just my opinion. Thanks for straightening that all out, but
hey, I find it works for me, and sometimes the best way is to use good old
trial and error. Mark

Well they are not saying 1.25 is not useable with a screen reader but easier.
Here is the direct quote from the guide.

This guide is for the 1.3.3 beta version of Audacity. The reason for choosing
the beta version is that a lot of work has been done since the last stable
version (1.2.6) to make Audacity easier to use for users of screen readers.
There is still work to be done in this area, but version 1.3.3 is much easier
to use than version 1.2.6. The downside of using the beta version is that it
still contains a number of bugs, and these are mentioned in the guide.

So use which ever one works best for you but be aware that 1.33 is beta as I
stated earlier and the guide states as well. You use it at your own risk.
1.26 can be used with a screen reader with out any big problems. It's just not
as accessible in all areas.

Don't know how you managed to do version 1.2.6, but here's the direct link
so you can see for yourself.

I would suggest using the newer beta as well, but I have used both 1.23
and 1.26 here with Jaws and it was an easy process. The tutorial on my website
is for version 1.23 and the version of the program is 1.26 on my site. I've
used audacity 1.26 here to do a few podcasts on the website. Not sure what or
who gave you the idea that 1.23 or 1.26 won't work.

Sorry but your incorrect. I have used it with jaws with no problems at
all. I have a audio tutorial and the audacity file for download on my web site.

        www.blind-geek-zone.net

Look near the bottom of the audio page for the demo and look in the
programs page for the program download.

        Thanks,

        Rick

Audacity 1.2.6 is not going to work at all with JAWS. I can tell you
that for a fact, and the tutorial on the net will tell you as much. You can
just Google something like "Audacity tutorial for using JAWS" and you should
find it. It's very comprehensive, and the latest one covers the latest beta
version--1.3.3. I highly suggest using 1.3.3 even though it is in beta, but
then so was 1.3.2, but did they release an official version? Of course not!
My point being that yes it's in beta, which basicly means there's a few bugs,
but overall it really does a good job. I use it myself, and I have very rarely
had problems with it. Mark

            Greetings!

I am using JAWS 8.0.1163 with Windows XP home; I'm considering
downloading Audacity 1.2.6. Does JAWS work well with this program? Are there
any pitfalls I should consider?

Thanks in advance for any help you might provide.

            Best wishes,

            Rollie
