As you probably know, Word has certain storage defaults. By and large, it'll look for a document in My Documents, unless you tell it otherwise. Similarly, it'll look for Templates in Application Data-Microsoft\Templates. Application data is buried three layers deep under Documents and settings. I think it's Documents and Settings\all users, but you get the idea. If you really want to go to the trouble, you can go in and change those storage defaults, under Tools, Option, File Locations. However, most folks find that assigning documents, clip art, templates, Etc. to different locations cuts down on clutter, and, as the program knows where to find them, you don't have to waste time tracking them down. How does the computer differentiate between a document saved in my documents and a template saved in a folder in "New" that would allow it to appear when I press the new button? What follows refers to Office products, but I'm sure that Corel and IBM-Lotus follow similar conventions. Currently, you'll find individual templates in a Microsoft subfolder under "Application data," but that's doing it the hard way. Just save a new one to the default location, using the Save As menu. When you want to use it, just enter on "New" in the file menu. The list of templates pops up, ready for scrolling.
