Hi Dave,

I can help with one of these in the way you're hoping. Just open the
Tools/Options dialogues. Now control tab to the page entitled Send. Now tab
down just a few items and you'll come to the line "include previous message"
or something like that, with a check box. I'd have to guess the box won't be
checked. Space bar to check it, Insert 8 say line to be sure it's
checked, then tab to OK to finish. Send yourself and email, then reply to
that, and see if it's working right now. Ought to be.

As for the maximizing thing, you're right to believe that this has nothing
to do with whether the application launches maximized or not. A message,
either incoming or one you're creating, open originally in a window that
isn't the full size of the screen, but just occupies a portion of the
interface at first. This may allow for reading an incoming message with Jaws
just fine, as it does for me, but although you can allow a new message
you're writing to remain reduced size while you first type, and even while
spell checking, if you want to navigate around your message to edit it and
have everything appear and be accessible to you, you have to max the window.

And this is done, in both cases, by just pressing control shift x. Now,
someone may have some other approach to all this, but I never heard of it
and it's not an "issue" for me in any case. Takes a flash of pressing alt
spacebar x and usually hearing "maximized," and that's that. I do it a
million times a day, without regret or wishing it would be automatic. it's
not supposed to be automatic. A sighted user wouldn't see this as a problem
at all, so there isn't a way to set it differently. But for Jaws to focus
properly, you have to max the window, but it's no hassle.

Hope this helps.

Hello Yardbird:

If I had to do that, like you, it would drive me mad.

I have looked through the settings in Outlook Express. I cannot seem to be
able to find the setting you are suggesting I change.

Can you do me a favor and suggest what I can do to return OE to its original
state.

You also might be able to help me solve another problem which I have already
mentioned on the list.

For the past month or so, When I write a new message or reply to a message,
that someone has posted, the window is always minimized. Prior to that,
these windows were maximized.

I cannot remember what I did to cause these two windows to be always
minimized.

I have to maximize the window in these two windows in order for me to read
the entire lines of text I have written.

How can I set the new message window and reply message window to be always
maximized.

Outlook Express seems to be the only program that is affected in this way.

As I use programs, I am checking to make sure that the programs are
maximized. So far, I have not found a program I use is showing that any of
the windows within these programs are minimized by default.

Even if they are, as soon as I maximize the program's window, it stays that
way!

Someone on the list suggested I use a program, I think it was called
Maximizer.
I do not want to use a program to perform this function unless I really have
to do so.

I hope you can help with these two problems.

Thanks in anticipation.

Sincerely:

Dave Durber
