I went to this website with Firefox and had a similar experience. So, having
installed the IE View add-on to Firefox, I switched to IE6. This time I got the
following message:

Audio files on Charleston.net are in MP3 format. You may need to download
additional software to your computer to be able to play MP3 files correctly.

I've been playing MP3 files for years on this computer, but this is the second
time today some website has told me I need something more for MP3s.

So, to Don Moore's query, maybe going to this website with Internet Explorer
will enable you to hear the clip. But my query is where do I find a file needed
to play or convert to MP3 format?

  Hi List,

I followed Negoslav's instructions (below), as follows:

I used Firefox and went to the following page:

http://www.charleston.net/news/2008/apr/05/boys_call_helps_mom_but_slows_ems36197/

Then, I found the following link for the audio clip:

911 call from 5-year-old Tyrone Burden

Then, I right clicked on it with NumPad star and cursored down to Copy Link
Location and pressed Enter. When I pasted that into an E-mail message, I got
the following:

  http://www.charleston.net/audioclips/44/

Of course, when I pasted that into the browser, it just gave me that same
useless dialogue again.

Addison tried the same thing and got the same result. Are we doing
something wrong?

I even contacted the web guy at the web site and he said that annoying
dialogue message always comes up and all I have to do is click on the Play
button, but, of course, I am not finding any such button with JAWS, so maybe
someone can help.

I look forward to hearing from someone on this. If I can't play the file
directly, then, hopefully, I can extract the mp3 the way Negoslav did, but no
luck so far.

      any help would be appreciated.

      Thanks in advance,

      Don

I used mozilla firefox., went to the link for the mp3 file and clicked the
numpad star (for right mouse button) and chose from the menu "copy link
location" and then just pasted in the message.
    Glad I could help,

I want to that web site and found the link for the audio file. When
you click on the link it takes you to a web page that has an embedded Quicktime
audio player. You have to click play on the player to hear the audio file. In
order to download the audio file you have to have Quicktime Pro installed on
your computer.

Hi Addison, chances are your computer came with one,
Windows Media Player. I think from about Windows ME this programme came
preinstalled and thus you were able to play MP3's and many other audio/video
files out of the box. However, if you don't like Windows Media Player, then you
can go to www.winamp.com and download a copy of Winamp. You could also go to
www.vuplayer.com and download their free and very accessible player, simply
called VuPlayer. Hope that helps.
