Chris,

in my opinion the best anti-spyware, and the most accessible, are no
longer the same product.

I can't tell you how impressed I am with a product called prevx (which
can be downloaded from http://prevx.com ).

I had read about it in an article which discussed stealth rootkit
malware, and how right now, prevx was the only product which could
detect a particular class of these called master boot record rootkits
(sometimes called mebroot viruses).

prevx however is not very accessible; you must move the jaws cursor
around to read the screen or make choices.

I am running it in conjunction with avg. frequently avg says there are
no detectible threats, and prevx finds one or more. I did have a
rootkit virus which it eliminated, after avg told me I was threat free.
(also, windows defender told me I was threat free).

prevx is not free, and I know along with accessibility, that's important
to a lot of people on this list. well, the version which removes threat
costs money; the version which just scans and tells you when it finds
one is free.

I think running several at once is the best defense, although it's hard
on cpu and disk resources, especially so for laptop or notebook users.

I just wanted to give this a mention.
