My name is Easy J. I'm a blind PC user! Using JFW 9.0.552. Is your PC registering your external hard drive on windows startup? When your computer starts up is your external device being registered? If you can please turn your PC off! Then reconnect your external hard drive, then make sure that your external drive is on then after the USB cable is connected to both your external and PC then turn your computer back on then listen for JFW via windows says new hardware has been detected then either if your external device may or may not have software to install! I'm sorry that you are having so much trouble with this! I hope my email is of some help for you! More then likely, unless I'm wrong and please correct me! I think you might not have to worry about software drivers for your external device! Also check one more thing! open windows explorer! Then see if your external hard drive device is there, where you can look at your folders and files! Where you can move them around and the like! Take care and good luck with this problem! PS I also relies that you are using vista! So I'm not sure how much of this advice will help you and I'm a XP home with SPS2 or service pack 2. I hope that my advice helps you out!----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy Shugart" <nancy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Rich, Kevin, and List,

Forgive me for just not getting it...but I still can't get your directions to work.

Rich, when I type e: todo.txt in the name field it tells me the name is not valid. I've tried taking spacesout, I've tried changing the e to another letter, but it all gives me a message that name is not valid.

Kevin, okay, so I tab till I hear browse button. I activate it by pressing space bar. But I still don't find anywhere that it allows me to save to my external hard drive...or even to My Documents...or to any other location.

I am so new to using Vista that I really do need more explanation. Can you help?

I appreciate everyone being so patient with me. Thank you so very much!

Nancy
