I had a similar problem in which I battled Comcast to allow me to receive
list messages. As best I can remember, Comcast suspected Freelists.org was
a
spammer. Obviously, this is some sort of cyber trigger based on number of
messages it detects, not content. I threatened Comcast with grave bodily
harm and tried to be as big a pain as possible. What Comcast said it
needed
was a form filled out by Freelists with which I was only tangentially
connected. In a combo box at Freelists, there is an option to write to the
administrator of Freelists, which I did even though I had no leverage to
ask
anything. After I gave up trying to settle this, I started a GMail account
and signed up for the list that way. Later the whole matter reverted to
how
it had been. Since I received no feedback from Comcast or Freelists after
the problem was solved, I have no clue as to what the key was to unlock
the
mess.

Message from Adrian Spratt to the JFW list

Thank you for agreeing to post this query. I hope someone can offer a
solution.

Ever since I switched to Verizon's FIOS service a week ago Tuesday,
I've
been unable to post to the list. I get a message telling me to contact my
system administrator saying I don't have rights. My consultant believes
the
problem is at our end, meaning the company he uses as an email server,
but
this company is adamant that the problem lies with the JFW list
administrator.

In an effort to circumvent this stalemate, I went online to
//www.freelists.org/list/jfw

in order to unsubscribe, with a view to subscribing again. I thought by
doing so, I might get the responsible server to start over and accept
whatever is different about my contact info.

I chose unsubscribe on the website and was advised I'd receive a message
I
might need to reply to in order to confirm cancellation. I did get that
message and replied as instructed. But my reply was rejected with the
same
explanation I've been receiving for five days.

I know others on the list have had problems posting that were the fault
of
their ISP. In my case, the rejection notices arrive almost
instantaneously,
which suggests the problem really is at my end. Whether that's my
consultant's email server company or Verizon, I can't say. I also don't
know
what questions to ask, especially in the case of Verizon.

Incidentally, I still receive JFW list messages.

Does anyone have suggestions?
Adrian Spratt
