I believe I have found your issue. If you are bold and not afraid here is where you go for the fix. Please back up the registry first before making any changes Read this. Opens Search Companion Rather than the Folder If the Windows Explorer opens up the Search Companion rather than opening up the actual folder, the default setting for opening a folder is changed. To correct this: 1. Start Regedit 2. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ Directory \ shell and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ Drive \ shell] 3. Edit the default value to be explorer or none I checked mine and it is set to none The second reg entry is where I found mine. Robert To find me you can do the following. No such file autorun.inf was in list view. Also again while on local disk C right click it and find the explore option and press enter on it. Then hit the tab key once then look for an autorun.inf file. If you find one rename the file by putting the letter X in front of the file name. Then close everything and again try to open local disk C. Write back with results.
