Afternoon Don The newer Macs, the so called Intel Macs, are capable of running windows, as well as Mac OS. In fact, Windows and Mac OS can be run simultaneously with a program called Parallels. I am curious of people who have successfully gotten their macs to run Windows and Jaws. thanks jack ----- Original Message ----- From: Don Moore To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, December 16, 2007 3:13 PM Subject: Re: Jaws on the Mac Hi Jack, Since Mac computers use a completely different operating system from PC computers, you are really talking apples and oranges here, to quote Joel from another post today. Windows XP and Windows Vista are used on PCs, but not on a Mac. Furthermore, the JAWS for Windows program that we use is software designed for the PC platform. However, there are screen readers for the Mac; in fact, when I used that platform, I used a screen reader called outSPOKEN for the Mac and it was, in my opinion, very similar to JAWS. However, the new Macs apparently have a built-in screen reader that is supposed to be very good, but I haven't used it, so please don't take my word for it. Hope this helps, Don ----- Original Message ----- From: Jack Chen To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, December 15, 2007 9:48 PM Subject: Jaws on the Mac Hello. I'm sorry if this question has been asked before. I'm thinking of switching to a Mac for my next computer and wanted to hear about people's experiences installing Jaws on XP or Vista on the Mac. I'm curious whether JFW can be installed successfully under Parallels and Bootcamp both (of course not simultaneously). I'm also curious what Macs people have successfully installed any combination of the above software on. I'm interested in getting the Mac Mini but am open to other Macs if that Mac isn't appropriate. Thanks for all of your help in advance. jack
