Samara
I cannot think where else to look in Jaws help then. From my years as a
trainor of Assistive technology, I looked to see if I had some old help
files on Word for 97 and I must have cleared them all out.

I did that, but it just said all that was for word 2000 to 2007. Do you
think I should look deeper?

Samara Just a reminder, the jaws help system may have some helpful hints and
ways to improve performance of Word 97. Use the keystroke insert key plus
F1 pressed twice quickly to bring up
the list of popular programs. If you invoke this command while within the
word program, in the tree view, you will be on "word". Press enter on word
and use the F6 key to read the help topic. Note there will be links to
things like helpful hints, jaws hot keys and possibly setting up word 97.

Awww. It didn't work. But it's 97, not 07. Sighs. It was worth a shot
though.

Hello there;

well, I assume it's MSWord 2007, on a XP machine.

open MSWorde, now, alt+v=view, and make sure that, normal is checked.
also, make sure your screen is maximized.
ANOTHER THING YOU CAN TRY IS,

OPEN MSWord,
alt+v=view,
up arrow and enter on, zoom....
you want to set the zoom at 75%.

I hope this helps.

Thanks. It's word 97.

Crestfallen look.

I don't think jaws works with that one, does it?

Samara,

Press Alt+h to open the help menu. Then arrow until you hear "about" then
Enter. You may need to use the JAWS cursor but the version will be in that
dialog.

Subject: Jaws 10 and Microsoft word

I just got my mom's desktop and there's microsoft word on it. I know it's an
older version, but I don't know how to find out which one it is. When I type
and backspace, all jaws says is "blank". When I try and read the text with
the arrow keys, it's the same thing. It's as though I've written nothing.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong? Meanwhile, I'll try
and continue to find out what version this is. Are there earlier versions
that don't work with jaws 10?
