But what is easier. To have to press escape then control and home before you can navigate, or to just have to press E once the page loads to get to your logon screen. Not so bad if you only ever visit a couple of sites, but if you go around all over the place and don't know or can't remember what all the first edit fields are then it becomes a problem because you ahve to go out of forms mode to find out what the edit field is. Otherwise, it's helpful that JAWS does land right on that first forms field so that, for example, I can sign in right away. ----- Original Message ----- From: Roy Nickelson Sent: Monday, December 15, 2008 5:37 PM sounds like the navigation quick key delay setting might be a good one for you to check out. Roy ----- Original Message ----- From: Brian Giles Sent: Monday, December 15, 2008 4:41 PM I love autoforms mode, but I hate it on pages with the auto focus in an edit field, like google and youtube. As I use quick navigation keys a lot, it gets really annoying when I hit H for the next heading and it starts typing and I don't realize it so press enter, and it searches for something with an H at the beginning of my search query. The page will load and I'll hit escape or numpad plus to get out of forms mode, but then the page reloads and forms mode gets turned on again. So I'll think forms mode is off since I've told JAWS to get out of it, but then it'll start typing. Kind of ironic how pre JAWS 10, I'd sometimes forget to turn forms mode on and start jumping all over the page, which got really annoying when a sighted person was trying to help me with something. And now that there's autoforms mode, it is activating sometimes when I don't want it. Is there a way to leave autoforms mode on, but require you to manually enter forms mode on pages with auto focus to edit fields? I would love that. Brian
