Re: JAWS and page numbers in Word

Hi Judith,

Try this.  Open Word.  Go to the Insert menu.  Choose Page Numbers Decide
with the arrow keys if you want the page numbers in the Header or Footer.
Press Tab, then choose the desired alignment such as right, centered, etc.
You may then uncheck the box which says, "Show number on first page".  Press
Tab to OK, then Space on it to close the dialog.  Create several pages in
the file, then arrow through them.  You will find that JAWS is getting the
page number from the status line rather than from the inserted page numbers.
You can not simply read the page number in the document like you can the
rest of the text.  Perhaps it just can't be done?
