Hi Gerald;

I'm sorry I missed the part about having the details option checked. Here
is another way.
1. Open the configuration manager with Insert / Jaws key + the 6 key on the
number row above the main keyboard. Or, press the Insert / Jaws key + the
F2 key & arrow down to the conffiguration manager option, & press enter.
2. Press control, shift, + D, for the default configuration manager.
3. Press alt + S, for the Set options menu.
4. Arrow down to Verboscity Options & press enter, or just press the letter
V, after pressing alt + S.
5. Tab to Beginner Preferences & press spacebar to open.
6. At the bottom of this list is the option, Tool tip. Make sure this is
checked. If not, press spacebar to check, tab to okay, press the spacebar,
tab to okay again, press spacebar, press control + S, to save your changes,
& Alt + F4 to close.

Hope this is what you are looking for. Take care.
Mike

Subject: JAWS Not Speaking File Details

Hi gang. I'm really stumped. For some reason, JAWS no longer speaks the
detail information for each file as I scroll through the list of files in a
particular folder. JAWS will speak the file name but not the detail
information like file type, file size and creation date. I have Details
checked on the View menu for all folders and files on my computer.
Strangely, I can get the detail information by using the JAWS cursor or by
pressing the Alt key twice to launch and exit the Menu bar. I haven't
changed any JAWS or Windows Explorer settings. This behavior just started
recently. Can anyone explain why JAWS now only speaks the file names and
not the other detail information when I scroll through a list of files? Is
there any way to fix things so that JAWS once again speaks the file details
without having to switch to the JAWS cursor or pressing the Alt key twice?
I'm running JAWS 9 with XP Pro. Thanks.

  Gerald
