Can't speak for JAWS 10 but with JAWS 9 I have Windows Media Player set up
to automatically start ripping when I insert a CD to one of my optical
readers. Literally "push and rip".
Setting the rip options in WMD is easy to do, as well.

CDEX is free and very good, can convert to wav, mp3, ogg, flac etc.
normalize, look up track info automatically online, etc. No scripts
required.
