Okay. Look at the numbering system this way. People screamed for years because they wanted an auto-update feature. Now we've got it. If the older version numbering system was still being used, there would be no auto-update feature. Which is more important? To me, it's the auto-update feature.

of course not. But there's no harm in venting some reasonable annoyance for
a few posts, you know? don't worry about it. Thanks.

There most likely isn't a whole lot that can be done about it no matter what
our opinions may be on the matter, so arguing like Talmudic scholars or
lawyers just seems like a waste of time and energy if you ask me. :-)

Hello Allan,
Why we should even have to think about their DOZENS of internal builds and
how they number them is completely beyond me. Why we should be arguing
like
Talmudic scholars (or lawyers, tip of the hat to A.) about this is JUST
LAUGHABLE. I never heard of any company that names its public products so
elaborately and confusingly. Totally off the wall.

Messagehi Adrian,
I'm agree that 2 should come before 5, but how that a 4 digits number come
before the 3 digits 1? the developer in FS start develop
jaws 9.0 from the ground up, meaning version 9.0 is start from 9.0.1 to
9.0.100 to 9.0.1000. so therefore the 2 come after 5 because
it is revision 2000 and not revision 200 and the 5 is revision 500.

Hi, Allan.
This thread is undeniably JAWS-related, but we will test the patience of
other listers and the moderator if we keep it up. But to
answer your challenge to Mark, here's why he has a point, so to speak.
Just
take the first digit after the decimal point. For the
current update, it's 2, while for the previous it's 5. I think you'll
agree,
.5 , or one-half, is greater than .2, or one-fifth, and
yet the lower number designates the more recent update. At best, a
paradox.

hi, you are absolutely wrong! read this numbering carefully,

the previously release is J9.0.552 which is 552 and the currently release
is
J9.0.2152 which is 2152. so how you tell a number 2 is
before 5? and how you calculate 552 after 2152?

Is it just me and all the people I have talked to. numerically speaking
jaws
9.00.522 should be the latest update NOT 9.00.2152

This is not the way versions numbers should be labeled .2 comes before .5.

Has anyone else thought this strange?
