I have a wireless keyboard that did something similar. It turned out to be
due to some keyboard macros being turned on that involved the function keys.
If your keyboard has software to control some special functions, check to
see if there's a way to turn these functions off.

Hey guys,
Got an interesting problem.
I have alaptop, and just hooked up a USB keyboard.
I changed the keyboard layout to desktop, and there is one thing it's not
doing right.
I can't do an alt. f4 command.
It says
Menu bar file.
This doesn't make any sense.
Any thoughts?
I've tried rebooting and everything.
Everything else seems to be fine, accept alt. f4.
Any thoughts?
