hi,
to solve this problem, go to

start / programs / jaws 8.0 / explore jaws / explore share settings

and look for a file call

Windows Live Messenger.jdf

copy this file to

start / programs / jaws 8.0 / explore jaws / explore my settings

open this file with notepad and use the ctrl+f "find" command to find the word
"im" and edit to what ever you like it to be and save
it.

you also can edit some others short hand like "lol", "rofl" and etc.

hope this helps.

Warmest Regards,
Allan Wong

this is in the dictionary file for messenger, so you can fix it with the
dictionary manager.
