Well I installed it last night. I haven’t used it extensively by any means,
but so far, it’s working fine with Jaws 8.

I've been using IE 7.0 for a few days, and it works well with JAWS 8 (at
least for me). Microsoft actually included most of the navigation keys
right in IE 7.0, so Freedom Scientific didn't have to script how we move
from tab to tab, etc. I've not noticed any navigation difficulties with IE
7 and JAWS 8.

Of course, your mileage may vary, as I know the experience differs from
computer to computer, and based on your settings.

If you go to the Microsoft Updates page, you can uncheck the IE7 download
and accept the other security updates. However, if you have set your PC's
control panel to accept automatic updates, you will first need to go back to
the control panel and choose another option. I selected the one that has MS
notify you of pending updates and gives you a choice whether to download.
Otherwise, the option to uncheck downloads isn't available on the website.

Once you uncheck an item, it will be hidden until you choose to download it.
A link on the website makes it easy to restore a download option.

In my case, I've unchecked the IE7 download on the website and returned to
automatic updates. The most recent set of security updates had one for
Internet Explorer, but it didn't require installation of IE7 and didn't
force one.

As for whether JAWS 7.1 works with IE7, there have been conflicting
experiences on this list. I don't recall reading any reports yet of how JAWS
8.0 is working with it.

Hiya List,

Am truly reluctant to install IE7 as my Microsoft updates keep reminding me
but it looks like I have to if I want to install other important security
updates from Microsoft. Is it true Jaws still has issues with IE7 and I've
been told its slower to surf the web now also with IE 7, has anyone else
fount this out? Any help on not installing IE 7 but letting me install the
other things on the update list I'll appreciate.

cheers,

Jim from oz
