Alan,
Yep. It's a great list all right. What a rich range of experience is
represented here, and how much is learned and taught. And Jaws as a Godsend?
You're preaching to the choir in my case. I may complain about this bug or
that glitch, and so sort, but without Jaws, which was the screen reader
bought for me by my local California Rehab office when I was just starting
to require such help and didn't know diddly about any of this stuff, my life
would be a whole lot less than it is. Like no life at all, given what
matters most to me (reading, writing, communications in writing).
So let's carry on, with gratitude and with as much fellowship as we can
muster.

Hello Yardbird,
Wow, it sounds like we have almost a parallel situations.
I used computers since the first IBM PC came out around 1981, without any
problems with seeing the screen, but I have RP, and gradual loss of sight
made me used a Large Screen Magnification hardware from V-Tek, the DP 11,
during the 90's, then I tried Zoomtex, but started using JAWS back in 1999
when as you said, I had to fill the 19 inch monitor with only a couple of
letters at a time.
JAWS has been a God Sent and I do not know what I would do without it.
I want to thank you and this list for all the help they have given me
lately, and hopefully in the future, as there always seems to be something
that comes up!
But then, you know, Sighted folks have the same situation, problems with
their machines!
The big difference, when Sighted people have problems, they can get the good
old standard tecky to help them out!
We need people who understand JAWS and how it works with Microsoft XP or
Vista, or whatever!
