Hi, I've said several times that I'm not worried about anything, and that's not why I asked a couple of questions. I do use an antivirus program that keeps me covered regarding incoming mail. And I know the general idea that Outlook express, my email client, seems to misinterpret a number of things as attachment, and I've said several times that I'm expressing technical curiosity about this. Which doesn't seem to be answerable on the list, so I'd like to let it go completely, now. I'm very grateful for your response, but please, everyone, there's no need to respond to my messages on this topic any more. Let me repeat that I'm not worried about this in terms of security, but was only hoping to find out why an email client, mine and others, may mistake something like an antivirus company blurb as a file attachment, when what we see (or hear) is a message that's simply within the message body of the email, not an attachment. Once more, I'm repeating this not in order to elicit comments but to say, again, that this was all I was talking about and I'd like to bow out. Thanks for understanding. . As I said the easiest way for you to handle it is to have your system be auto protected by some sort of virus scanner and simply do not open these files. Also as I have said before maybe list admen will want too look in to wy people are receiving attachments from a list witch is not supposed to have any. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Yardbird Sent: Wednesday, September 21, 2005 8:13 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: File attachments thread Okay. At this point, I just think I'd rather ask a friend who's an IT professional to explain this simply than to keep conjecturing about it, when obviously none of us knows why these things we're describing happen. If I ask around and find out anything about this, I'll be sure to mention it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "N & G." <lakeking@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, September 21, 2005 8:07 PM Subject: re: File attachments thread Well, when I looked at the original message that started this thread with my Jaws cursor there was an attachment. I also checked in my Eudora attachment files the Winmail.dat file was there. So regards what Jaws tells you I received an attachment.
