Well,
when I looked at the original message that started this thread with my Jaws cursor there was an attachment. I also checked in my Eudora attachment files the Winmail.dat file was there.
So regards what Jaws tells you I received an attachment.

Just as an example, this message to the list from Ryan West just came into
my inbox, and Jaws spoke the Outlook Express message that it bore a file
attachment.

but when I opened the message, and pressed the jaws command Insert A to
speak the attachments field, what I heard, as I expected, was "no
attachments."

So I'm just using this message as an example. Ryan's messages usually say
they have file attachments, and they never actually do. it's not Ryan's
fault. He's one of many listers whose messages say the same thing when they
appear in my inbox.

Hello,

If you go download the msn plus you will have options to set sounds for
status changes and signing in and out.

Hope this helps.

Hi I have not the slitest clue. I think how ever that it would be cool if there could be a script or something to tell you if some one signs off just like it does when they sign ibn.

  afternoon or evening to all.

i am using jaws 6.20 and windows xp home and windows messenger.

I am having a strange issue.

on the main window of windows messenger i can tell when a person is set to
away.

  but here's the funny part.

when i go in to that person's conversation window to type jaws will not
say, so and so may not reply because his or her status is set to away.

can you tell me of a fix?

  Randy
