Hey Tom,
Drew Hunthausen here, is there any way I could get access to your excel
tutorials? I know we didn't touch on excel when I was working with you, but I
need to learn it for my data analysis class at school. Thanks
Drew

Subject: FS Reader Question

Hi all,
Here's a question concerning FS Reader. Does FS Reader support command-line
arguments so that it can directly open a book that's passed to it? Here's
the deal.
I'm an instructor working at a center which trains people to use computers
with JAWS, Magic and mainstream office applicationss, et cetera et cetera.

I have three textbooks in DAISY format that I want to make available to
students. The books are for Excel, Outlook and Word, and they reside on a
server and can be accessed easily over a local area network. Let's suppose
for a moment that I can set up network shares at each workstation in the
classroom, and I can map the network drive such that the folder containing
the textbooks is available as a drive within My Computer or Windows
Explorer. For purposes of discussion, we'll call it drive T, for Textbooks.

I want to set up shortcuts on the students' desktops that point directly to
the textbooks in question, and I want to do it so that when the students
activate the shortcuts, FS Reader opens with the textbook ready to read
using FS Reader. I don't want them to have to use the Open dialog in FS
Reader and use the Change Directory button to bring up a Browse function
where they have to hunt for the DAISY books. That's too complicated for a
computer novice. We're talking one-click access here, so to speak.

Can this be done? I don't see anything in FS Reader's help system that
indicates that I can do anything like what I'm describing here. Any ideas
are appreciated. Thanks.

Tom
