Don't know what version of Media Player you are using, but the version 10 with XP Home works quite well this way.

Hi, what advantages are there to this approach.  It sounds like more
work then configuring the ini file.  You can also back it up and if you
need to do a reinstall just put it where it needs to be.  Just wondering
what the advantage here is.  Note also some programs like windows
messenger windows media player you can not do this.  Also not all winamp
output plug-ins allow this.

I do it this way. It's different than the way most others do it.

! Set the Sound Card that you want JAWS to speak through to be the
system default Sound Card in Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices,
Audio,, Sound playback. ! Now go into your other audio applications:
WinAmp, Sonar etc. and select whatever Sound Card you want that
application to go through.
