Hi Hina, If you have XP you should have a virtual printer called microsoft office document image writer. It comes with XP but I believe installing is optional. If you have it installed you should be able to see it in the list of printers. This has an OCR capability. You can open your document in your pdf reader go to print and select the microsoft office document image writer and print. Then in the microsoft office document image writer under tools you can select the OCR option. When the OCR is complete you can go to the save as under the file menu and save it in a variety of formats, microsoft word is a good option. But I appreciate your help. Hina. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of John R. The document was probably not formatted properly or was created using an outdated version of Adobe and so could not be converted so our screen reader can read the text, which is there. Solutions to this, are that you can try saving the document to your hard drive, and if you have either Freedom Scientific OpenBook or Kurzweil K1000 scanning/reading software, either of these programs might open the item. Also, if you have a PDF converting program such as PDF Converter, this type of program might work. I was able to open my troublesome PDF document using my PDF converter program. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hina Altaf" <haltaf@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>; <jaws-users-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, February 08, 2011 1:16 PM Subject: jaws and pdf Hi, Does anyone know why jaws says empty document for some pdf files?
