Do you know how to get it so that they're not listed in threads and just in a regular list?

Jim,

I can't say about the second problem, having read messages mislabeled like
that. But the first one would seem to be because you must be deleting the
first message in a thread, under which all the others in that thread are
either collapsed or listed, depending how you're displaying them at the
moment. And it's true, if you delete the first message in a thread that's
tied together when you use this OE option to group messages by conversation,
all the subordinate messages will be deleted, too. That's normal, unless
you can tell you aren't really on such a message (the first one in a
thread).

Hope this helps halfway, at least.

Hi there,
I'm not sure how this happened, but I'm not sure how to turn it off. I've
been tinkering with this but get nowhere.
I'm using Outlook Express, and as of lately, when I try and delete messages,
I get the following message:
"Messages in the collapsed conversations will be deleted" and then asks if
I'm sure I want to continue.
What's also interested is that messages I know I've read but haven't deleted
are coming up as "Unread." Any ideas?
First the internet and now this.
Gee.
Jim
