It sounds like you were trying to make changes on your system without having
administrative rights to do so.
That is the only time I've ever run into that situation.

Thanks for the previous advice about setting the auto login option, but when
I hit okay, I got an error message in the form of a JFWService box that said it
couldn't open service manager. Anyone have any idea why that might have
